Police: Suspect shot during home invasion

A man who police believe is a suspect in a home invasion was in critical condition after being shot multiple times Wednesday night.
The suspect has not been named nor has his age or hometown been released. However, police said he reportedly forced his way into a home around 10:30 p.m. in the 2400 block of 10th Street.
The suspect was said to be carrying a short-barreled rifle and demanded money from the occupants, according to information from the Port Arthur Police Department.
One of the occupants of the home retrieved a handgun and shot the suspect multiple times. He was initially brought to Christus St. Mary Hospital, then later transferred to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont where he underwent surgery.
None of the occupants of the home were injured during the incident and the case remains under investigation.
