Beaumont Police: Overpasses, elevated roads icing over

Beaumont Police late Tuesday issued a traffic advisory, urging drivers to stay off the road and citing multiple traffic accidents in the city.
Spokeswoman Carol Riley said all overpasses and elevated roads were freezing over. Traffic would be diverted according to police emergency plans.
“Numerous crashes reported on Cardinal Drive,” she noted.
Riley cautioned drivers about black ice — clear ice on black asphalt roads — and said temperatures were not expected to rise above freezing until noon Wednesday.
