Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said Jonathan Castillo, 30, of Port Arthur and Joshua Vega of Port Neches, 31, were charged in connection with burglaries of a home and a mobile home on the same property in Hamshire.

In an issued statement, the Sheriff’s Office said a property owner said Saturday a shotgun, handgun, camera, purses, jewelry, computer tablet, tools and a Kawasaki Mule were missing from the home and mobile home. The homeowner said he’d hired two men to do storm-related repairs and lent them his vehicle. He said he’d traced some of the property to a nearby home.

After receiving a description of the vehicle, deputies located the vehicle and stopped it. The missing shotgun and handgun were inside the vehicle. All the missing items were recovered.

After taking statements, the two suspects were booked into the Jefferson County Jail. Castillo had two prior aggravated robbery warrants from Port Arthur, and his bond was set at a total of $225,000.

Vega’s bond was set at $25,000.

The investigation was continuing Monday morning; authorities said more charges may be added.
