Mrs. Ellisteen Walkes

Mrs. Ellisteen Walkes of Port Arthur died Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Harbor Hospice.  A native of St. Michael, Barbados she resided in Port Arthur for 37 years and worked for a time as her husband’s office manager.  She was a member of Saint George and Holy Trinity Episcopal churches.  She was a member of Jefferson County Medical Auxiliary, Board of the Salvation Army, Community Relations for Exxon Mobil and various social community organizations.

Visitation is scheduled for 2:00 to 4:00 pm Friday, February 9, 2018 with funeral service immediately thereafter at Holy Trinity Church, 2425 Nall Street, Port Neches, Texas under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.

She is survived by her spouse Doctor Austin C. Walkes; three children Dr. Desmar Walkes-Sullivan, Elizabeth Slaughter, Dr. Jon-Cecil Walkes and Ashley C. Walkes; sister Coral LaCroix, Trinidad, West Indies; brothers R.C. “Bob” Goodman, Jr., Toronto, Canada, Anthony Goodman, Barbados, West Indies; grandchildren, Cydney Washington Moore, St. Louis, Missouri, Christopher Washington, Austin, Texas, Jasmine Jackson Ortiz, R.N., New Orleans, Louisiana, Jared Jackson, Beaumont, Texas, Madison Walkes, Houston, Texas, McKenzie Walkes, Houston, Texas; three great-grandchildren Levi Emanuel Ortiz, Bella Shay Walkes and Aidenn Hilton Jackson; sons-in-law Dr. Brian Sullivan and Patrick Slaughter, Beaumont, Texas;daughter-in-law, Rebecca Walkes, Houston, Texas; devoted friends Dr. Peter and Ann Goddard, Nova Scotia, Canada, Glenn Harewood, PhD, Toronto, Canada; sister-in-law Beverly Goodman, Toronto, Canada; and a host of other relatives and friends.
