According to deputies, they responded to a 10 a.m. call to a hotel on Highway 90 where a victim had been stabbed in the back. Koch, of Groves, an acquaintance, was named as the suspect.

Deputies said Koch had gone to the hotel, argued with the victim, tried to hit him with his truck and then tried to hit him with his fist. The victim said he told Koch to leave, but when the victim turned to walk away, he said, Koch stabbed him.

The sheriff’s office said Koch fled the scene and drove to a residence, where he had a camper. The suspect hooked the camper to his truck and was driving on Highway 397 in Lake Charles when the camper disconnected in the roadway.

Koch later drove to the Sheriff’s Office and said his camper was missing. Deputies arrested him there.

The victim’s injuries were not life threatening, deputies said.
