LUMBERTON — Destini Trahan faced only 12 batters in four innings Tuesday, but the Nederland pitcher was just one less walk away from being perfect.

Trahan tossed a no-hitter in the Bulldogs’ 15-0 run-rule victory over Lumberton, a game in which Nederland (14-8-2, 5-2 in 22-5A) scored nine runs in the second inning.

Brittany Taylor drove in six runs batting 3 for 4 and scored three runs, Hannah Grumbles was 3 for 3 with two RBI and a run scored, Harlee Brown batted 2 for 2 with two runs scored, and Hannah Goode, Corle Pompa, Kristan Traxler and Trahan each had a hit. Taylor hit two triples and Grumbles doubled once.

Nederland will visit Central at 6 p.m. Thursday.

BEAUMONT — Britni Hunt threw a three-inning perfect game, striking out eight of the minimum nine batters in the Indians’ rout of the Panthers.

Kaitlyn Boudreaux (4 for 4, six RBI) and Rachel Hammersmith (2 for 3, two RBI) each homered, and Boudreaux added two triples. Hammersmith stole a base and scored four runs.

Bayja Newby went 3 for 3 with three runs, an RBI and stolen base. Brooke Smith was 2 for 2, both doubles. She drove in a run, scored one of her own and stole a base. Taylor Dominguez and Newby also doubled.

PNG will take on Vidor at 2 p.m. Friday.

 

BASEBALL

Memorial 6, Central 4

In Port Arthur, Roberto Collazo held Beaumont Central to one earned run on three hits and struck out four in four innings, and Memorial came up with a two-run win.

Josue Rodriguez, who closed the game with two earned runs allowed on three hits and three strikeouts, batted 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI. Riyad Antoine was 2 for 3 with a triple and RBI, Adler Kithler doubled and Miguel Martinez singled for the Titans, who will host Central at 7 p.m. Thursday.
