Andrew Landry snapped a string of four consecutive missed cuts Friday by adding a second round 68 to an opening 69 in the RBC Heritage Classic at Harbour Town Golf links on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Landry, with a 36-hole total of five-under 137, is five shots off the lead of Bryson DeChambeau who shot 64 Friday for 132.

The news wasn’t as good for another Port Neches-Groves ex, Chris Stroud.

He shot 71 on Friday for 144 and missed the cut by two shots. His up-and-down round included three birdies, an eagle, three bogeys and a double bogey.

Landry, who had not teed it up in a PGA Tour event since the Feb. 22-25 Honda Classic, had four birdies against a lone bogey. It was the first time he had played since the birth of his son three weeks ago in Austin.

Television coverage of the Heritage Classic runs from noon to 1:45 p.m. on the Golf Channel, then from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on CBS (KFDM-6).
