Port Neches-Groves quarterback Roschon Johnson notched an MVP award Sunday at one of Nike’s The Opening regional football camps in Euless, according to a report on 247Sports.com.

The Opening is a football camp held in eight locations across the country over a period of nearly three weeks. The top 166 players in the nation, as selected by Student Sports at one of the regionals or Rating Days, will compete in either the Nike Football 7-on-7 Championship, Final 5 Lineman Challenge or Nike Football Rating Championship at the June 30-July 3 Opening Finals at the Star in Frisco.

But Johnson has his sights set on the Elite 11 Finals, a camp for “top-level” rising senior quarterbacks, according to 247Sports. He will participate at an event in Ohio in hopes of earning an invitation to the Elite 11 Finals, set for June 1-3 at a site to be announced.
