Lamar’s Miles, McKenzie, Hollowell tabbed S&C all-Americans

Former Lamar defensive end Manasseh Miles and quarterback Blake McKenzie joined volleyball outside hitter Amy Hollowell as National Strength and Conditioning Association All-Americans, awarded for their accomplishments on the playing surface and dedication to strength and conditioning while maintaining academic prominence.

All three completed their athletic eligibility in the fall.

Miles, of Houston, came back from an ACL injury as a junior. His competitive drive, Lamar S&C coordinator Daniel Darcy said, took over and he returned stronger than before the injury, posting career bests in the clean, squat, bench press and vertical jump.

McKenzie, of Corpus Christi, sustained two ACL injuries in back-to-back seasons and took some snaps this past season. He earned career bests in the clean, squat and bench.

Hollowell, of Phoenix, set the school record for the clean at 173 pounds as a senior. She did not miss a single game this past fall.
