NEDERLAND — A Nederland store that specializes in work clothes was hit by a group of shoplifters who made off with about $1,500 worth of merchandise recently.

On May 10, four to five black males and two white males entered the store in the 800 block of North Memorial Boulevard and took turns speaking with the clerk, thus distracting her as the others reportedly stuffed the specialty items into their clothes and left.

About 10 pairs of Ariat work pants, which are flame retardant and worth about $75 each, were stolen as well as 10 Ariat, flame-retardant shirts also worth about $75 each.
