The Gold Glove-style defense and leadoff hitting came in handy for Port Neches-Groves senior Austin Bost.

District 22-5A has named Bost its Most Valuable Player. The Panola College signee led the Indians with .462 batting and .688 slugging averages. He homered once, but scored 38 runs and lined 43 hits with 16 doubles, a triple and a home run.

District champion Nederland earned three superlative awards, with Braydon Credeur sharing the pitcher of the year title with Cory Kizer of Vidor, catcher Case Babino winning defensive MVP and Bryan Spell being named coach of the year. PNG sophomore Carson Roccaforte, who homered seven times, was named offensive player of the year.

Lumberton’s Trent Myers was named newcomer of the year.
