GIRLS BASKETBALL: Lamar camps set for June 19-22, Aug. 4

BEAUMONT – The Southland Conference champion Lamar women’s basketball team will conduct a pair of camps this summer at the Montagne Center.
A camp focusing on offensive and defensive skills for girls ages 6 to 17 is set for June 19-22. A one-day elite camp for varsity-level girls players will be held on Aug. 4.
The purpose of the camps is teaching the development of fundamental basketball skills using a fun and competitive environment. Players will learn one-on-one moves, team concepts and three-on-three concepts. Campers will also learn the importance of proper shooting techniques and how to utilize the triple-threat position.
The four-day youth camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for each of the first three days and from 9 a.m. until noon on the final day.
Campers will receive a free T-shirt. Lunch will be provided on the first three days. Campers should wear basketball shorts, their camp T-shirt and basketball shoes. The cost is $185 per person, including a $50 non-refundable deposit.
The elite camp runs from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Aug. 4. All campers will receive a camp T-shirt. The cost is $100 per person, including a $50 non-refundable deposit.
The camps are under the direction of Lamar women’s basketball coach Robin Harmony, the reigning Southland Conference Coach of the Year. Members of the LU women’s basketball coaching staff, as well as the team’s student-athletes, will serve as instructors.
