Going into the NCAA championships with the second-best time in the nation, the LSU 4×100-meter men’s relay team including Port Arthur freshman Kary Vincent Jr. failed to qualify for the finals in Eugene, Oregon, on Wednesday.

A mishap between second leg Renard Howell and third leg Correion Mosby caused them to miss a clean exchange, and the Tigers did not finish their preliminary run. Vincent ran the lead leg.

LSU had won the SEC championship last month, beating Arkansas, which has the fastest time in the event this year.
