November 1, 1932 ~ June 12, 2018

Elvira (Vera) Gonzales Garcia, 85, of Groves, TX passed away on June 12, 2018.

Vera was born on November 1, 1932 to her parents Regino and Trinidad Ramos Gonzales in El Campo, Texas.  Vera spent the majority of her life in the Port Arthur, Groves area. We will all remember her amazingly delicious Pecan Pies, for which it won an award at the Groves Pecan Festival!

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Dora, Becky and Stella, and her brothers Regino, Alfonso & Gustavo.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Frank (Poncho) Garcia, her sister Mary Ramirez and her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces & nephews.  Three sons, Carlos Garcia and Teresa Olivarez of Harlingen, Mario Garcia of Groves and Luis Garcia and his wife Paula of Louisiana.  Two daughters, Adela Swann of Groves and Emelda Ochoa and her husband Raoul of Montgomery.  Five grandchildren Daniel Swann, Miranda Garcia and her Fiancé’ JR Maldonado, Joshua Goldwire, Chris Garcia and Katie Garcia Ryland and her husband Cote’.  Six great grandchildren Ryllie, Fynlee, Brody, Harvee, Logan and Crew.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves, TX.  A 2:00 PM Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Nederland, TX.
