Jonathan Craig Pellum

Mr. Jonathan Craig Pellum, Sr., of Port Arthur died Saturday, June 16, 2018 at home after less than a six month battle with lung cancer. A native of Seattle, Washington, he was a resident of Port Arthur for 60 years and was employed by Holiday Inn for 18 years. He was a lifetime supporter of the African American Cultural Society and was named 2018 honorary Mr. Juneteenth.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2pm Saturday at Israel Chapel AME Church with Rev. William Robinson officiating.

Survivors include: his brothers and sisters, Gregory Pellum, Yarnell Pellum, Gail Pellum, Karla Robinson (William) of Jacksonville, FL, Tracy Hawkins, Harold Pellum (Lisa), Rayette Pellum, Byron Decuir (Deana) of Hempstead, TX,  Tarrance Decuir, and Nikita Decuir. His son and granddaughter, Jonathan Craig Pellum, Jr. and Amyori Pellum, and daughter Jaichel Pellum along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted family friends.

There to greet him with open arms were his mother, Lillie Mae Rogers, father, John Charles Pellum, brother Ronald Pellum, grandson Aden Rashard Pellum, grandparents Columbus and Lu Ethel Perry, great grandparents Ernest and Cecile Nurse and a host of ancestors who have gone before him.

He was a beloved son, brother, father, uncle, cousin and friend that will be dearly missed. Happy Father’s Day.
