18-wheeler accident shuts down I-10

An accident involving an 18-wheeler has blocked eastbound and westbound traffic on Interstate 10 near Hamshire Road in Jefferson County.

The accident involved an 18-wheeler fire on I-10 near Hamshire Road. It was reported to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) around 4 p.m. Friday. DPS closed all traffic lanes going eastbound and westbound near the site of the accident.

Motorists are encouraged to find another route of travel.

Additional details will be given as more information is released.

 

UPDATE

As of 4:45 p.m. Friday, DPS is switching eastbound and westbound traffic lanes to alleviate traffic congestion.

However, full lane closures will continue when the burned 18-wheeler is removed from the roadway; and so, it is still encouraged for motorists to find a different route.

DPS officials do not know how long the removal process will take.
