Eugene “Sug” Booth

Eugene “Sug” Booth was born on May 2, 1934 to his loving parents, James Booth and Gussie Branch in Apalachicola, Florida. He joined First Born Holiness Church at a young age. Eugene was employed at the St. Joe Papermill; and worked for a number of years in the commercial seafood industry. In 1973 “Sug” relocated to Port Arthur, Texas and began work at Fina Refinery, eventually retiring after 22 years of service. He joined Solid Rock Baptist Church and faithfully served on the Usher Board before moving his membership to Triumph Church. “Sug” also enjoyed fishing and his daily 2-mile walks. He was dedicated to working with the elderly of his community, for over five years he served the seniors through the – Meals on Wheels program and other senior activities at the local YMCA.

He was married to his loving wife Joyce Booth, a union of 26 years that lasted until his death. Eugene and Joyce created a loving home for Michael and Curtisha.

Eugene departed this life on Friday, June 15, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Gussie Booth; brothers, James Jr., Joseph, and AB Booth; sisters, Ava Taylor, and Bernice Boudreaux.

He leaves a legacy of love with his devoted wife, Joyce Booth; children, Eugene Jr.(Yessmon), Ellen(Elton), Tammy (Ron), Otis(Natalie), Alton(Shannon), Michael, and Curtisha(Glen); one brother, Adell Booth; two sisters, Gladys Green, and Loraine Taylor; two sisters-in-law, Elandra McNeal(Donald), and Debra Atkins; one brother-in-law, Eugene Bryant Jr.(Barbara); seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Life Honoring Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 12:00p.m. in the Chapel at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S. Main St., Lumberton, Texas 77657.
