Lamar came away with only one set win through three games at the Jacksonville (Alabama) State invitational.

Lamar finished its season-opening run in the tournament Saturday with a 25-6, 25-10, 25-14 loss to Little Rock. Seniors Ivette Dim and Tomar Thomas each made five kills to lead the Cardinals (0-3).

Lamar opened with a 25-18, 25-22, 17-25, 27-25 loss to Mercer and followed with a 25-23, 25-15, 25-21 loss to Jacksonville State. Freshman Abigale Nash finished 12 digs against Mercer and 10 against JSU.

Lamar will open its home slate with its own Cardinal Classic starting Thursday, when it hosts Texas Southern at 7 p.m. Other matches in the classic include: Texas Southern vs. Howard at 10 a.m. Friday, Southern at Lamar at noon Friday, TSU vs. Southern at 4 p.m. Friday, Howard at Lamar at 7 p.m. Friday, and Howard vs. Southern at 10 a.m. Saturday.
