Staff report
Some Beaumont children may have missed injury by moments Thursday morning, when a stolen car was driven into their home.
Police and firefighters went to the home in the 5500 block of Spencer in response to a 7:46 a.m. call. There, it was feared that several children had been in the room where the vehicle crashed.
However, police said, it was later determined that the children had left for school shortly before the crash.
Occupants of the vehicle fled on foot prior to an officer’s arrival, but one juvenile suspect was apprehended. The vehicle, a Black Mercedes sedan, had been stolen two nights earlier from a west end apartment complex.
The residence sustained major damage but no injuries were reported.
The investigation was continuing.
