Staff report
A Vidor man was killed Friday morning after his motorcycle rear-ended a truck that had stopped to make a turn.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said the two-vehicle wreck occurred around 10 a.m. on Texla Road north of Vidor in Orange County.
Troopers said a westbound 2017 Chevrolet pickup truck slowed to turn left into a private drive when the vehicle, a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle, rear-ended the truck. Justice of the Peace Derry Dunn pronounced the motorcyclist, a 30-year old man, dead at the scene. The victim’s name would not be released until next of kin was notified, DPS said.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
Eastbound and westbound traffic was halted for about two hours and traffic was diverted.
The investigation continued Friday afternoon.
