Gunshot exchange leaves octogenarian wounded

An 81-year-old man was wounded Friday night when he exchanged gunfire with a second shooter in the parking lot of a senior apartment complex in Port Arthur.
Police said in an issued statement that the victim was in serous but stable condition at St. Elizabeth’s hospital in Beaumont. He had been shot in the upper torso in an incident reported at 6:31 p.m. at Legacy Senior Apartments, 3225 Lake Arthur Drive.
The shots were fired in the south parking lot of the complex. The Port Arthur Police Crime Unit photographed the scene and the incident was under investigation.
In their statement, police did not provide any details about the second shooter.
