Kary Lamont Vincent, Sr., 49, was born in Port Arthur, TX on September 19, 1969 to Diana Ford and Griffin Vincent.  Kary transitioned with his heavenly father on December 26, 2018.

Kary accepted the Lord as a child under the late Reverend H.B. McCarthy of Rock Island Missionary Baptist Church, but rededicated his life to Christ 1992 under the baptismal of the Holy Ghost and Apostle Tom Gilliam, Sr. He was at a pivotal place on his journey going into the combines and knowing that his steps needed to be ordered by God. Kary’s Port Arthur Thomas Jefferson years were the launching pad for his football career. This launching pad being #19 of America’s “Aggie Wrecking Crew” took him to places of maturity and Texas A & M became the cultivating soil that allowed him to gracefully become the man known to many as a lifelong member of their ’92 Letterman Association. This brotherhood shared years of memories, life events, and well wishes for one another from them being drafted to various places to their children’s christenings and sporting events. Kary Lamont’s experiences in the NFL as New Orleans Saint #25 was unequivocally a great honor, but his journey thru Canadian Football as Toronto Argonauts Champion placed several championships under his belt as well as his Arena Football career.

In 2014, Kary received his master’s degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University. It was with this accomplishment, a new trajectory in his walk with Grace received its greatest reward! Kary loved every student that was placed on his path.  He coached with rigor vigorously and a respect for the wisdom from his experiences of his life. Coach Kay-Kay became “Pop” to many young men and ladies. Thousands of students with footsteps all over this country walk in the knowledge that was imparted from the core of his soul. He gave you truth when he spoke and allowed you to cry when it was hard to swallow; then his arm became the shoulder to cry upon to get things right.

Kary’s love for the Lord was evident in his faithfulness to New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, and his bus ministry bringing laughter to those he picked up as they journeyed to experience the Hope of the Lord under his Pastor Donald Ray Frank. His pastor was also a confidant, and friend.

It was in this HOPE, that his family accepts his glorious transition to his heavenly mansion where we know that his rest is in the Lord. It is in this HOPE WE TRUST in his rest being eternal, and full of GRACE and HONOR. Though his walk was not perfect on earth, our HOPE assures us in surviving as Kary Lamont’s Legacy lives on forever in God’s perfect JOY! Knowing God’s Word to be alive and true, Kary followed Proverbs 18:22 “He who finds a wife finds a good thing And obtains favor from the Lord.” He believed that in finding his REAL LOVE, and FAVOR from God Angela became his bride. On May 20, 2002 they united in Ecclesiastes 4:11 ”and if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a three-strand cord is not quickly broken.” The Legacy lives through his wife, Angela of 16 years. His children: daughter Meshawn Shante Conley; sons Kameron Trekary Vincent, Kary Lamont Vincent, Jr. and his “Poppadoc” Kyler Keshawn Vincent will forever cherish their talks of wisdom and correction. His parents are Diana Lynn Ford (Abram) and Griffin Kary Vincent (Esther). Kary’s brother preceded him in eternal rest Abram Tremont Ford leaving their sister, Trena Loren Arceneaux. Also walking in this great legacy is his Mother-in-Law Carolyn Thomas; Sister-in-Law Antoinette Motley and beloved Grandmother Rosella Thomas. The jewels of his heart were his granddaughters: Jamaya Lanae, Kelcie Andrielle, and Diamond Nicole. His heart cherished many friends and family, specifically life-long members Damon Martin, Cory Ware and Geraldine Harris. His spiritual parents will forever love him, Grant and Phyllis LaPoint. Kary was preceded in death by his God-Daughter VcShayla LaFluer Harmon; Grandparents Eugene and Helen Harmon, Jessie and Cora Vincent.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until service time at New Hope Baptist Church with services beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Donald Frank will officiating the services.  Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.  Services have been entrusted to Gabriel Funeral Home.
