PNGISD releasing Ridgewood school early due to nearby police incident

UPDATE 3:43: After a two-hour standoff, the suspect is in custody. Police said they knew the suspect had a handgun with him, but also found multiple long guns after the standoff.
Police tried to contact the suspect via telephone and loud speaker. Some nearby residents were evacuated while other were told to stay towwards the back of their homes while the standoff was ongoing.

2:26: Students at Ridgewood Elementary School are being released early due to a police standoff incident in the area.
Assistant superintendent Julie Gauthier said parents can pick up their children at this time and this is the only campus affected.
Gauther said the early dismissal has nothing to do with the school itself and is being done out of an abundance of caution.
