Two Port Arthur Independent School District incumbent trustees announced their intention to run for reelection with one of them, Robert Reid, having officially filed.
The other incumbent, the Rev. Donald Frank Sr., picked up an application but had not returned it by Friday afternoon, according to information from the district.
Reid and Frank submitted a joint press release to the news media announcing their intentions and said they want to maintain the continuity of the current board. The announcement cites the 2017 Tax Ratification Election that will generate additional local revenue, carrying out a $195 million bond passed by voters in 2014 plus a number of academic and other accomplishments.
Reid has been on the board since 2013 and Frank got back on the board in 2016 and has served before.
Terms last three years.
Candidates must file for a seat on the board of trustees by 5 p.m. Feb. 15; the election will be held May 4.
