Bridge City man found transporting black tar heroin

From the Orange County Sheriff’s Office:

The Orange County Sheriff’s office found nearly 43 grams of black tar heroin being transported by a a 61-year-old Bridge City man who had been stopped for multiple traffic violations.

On Saturday, March 23, at approximately 2:38 p.m., investigators with the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division observed a silver Toyota 4 Runner commit several traffic violations near the intersections of Texas Avenue and Roberts in Bridge City. A traffic stop was conducted and the  driver of the vehicle was identified as 61-year-old Howard Jay Schab, a Bridge City resident. Schab was arrested for the traffic violations.

During an arrest inventory of the vehicle, approximately 43 grams of a black tar substance believed to be black tar heroin was located inside the vehicle.

Schab was transported to the Orange County Jail where he was charged with the traffic violations and possession of a controlled substance, a 2nd degree felony.  A bond will be set upon arraignment.
