“MoMo”
JoAnn Daspit “MoMo”, 82, of Groves, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home on April 22, 2019. She was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on January 3, 1937.
JoAnn is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Roy Daspit, to whom she was married for 56 years. She is also preceded in death by her mother, Sillia Viator; her father, Eli Viator; her two brothers, Lee and Wilmer Viator; and four sisters, Mildred Kuhn, Doris Porter, Mary Belle Kelly, and Willie Mae Howard.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception-St. Peter the Apostle Parish in Groves and attended Bishop Byrne High School in Port Arthur. Her joys in life were cooking, being of service to the church and community, and spending time with her family. In 1995, she was awarded ‘Mother of the Year’ by the City of Groves.
She is survived by her six children, David and Joyce Daspit of Houston; Don and Melanie Daspit of Groves; Dana and Ron Conte of Healdsburg, California; Doug and Bette Daspit of Mauriceville; Darlene and Jeff Pohl of San Antonio; Denise and Lindsey Latiolais of Woodville; her loving dog, Jill; twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous other family members.

A Christian Vigil will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, April 25, 2019, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 26, 2019, at Immaculate Conception-St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Groves. Rite of Committal will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
