NEDERLAND — Police in Nederland are asking the public for help in locating three people they believe worked together to steal a pressure washer from a local business.
Just after 11 a.m. July 24, two black men and a black female entered Fred Miller’s Outdoor Equipment, 1025 Nederland Ave. One of the men distracted employees at the front counter requesting information about parts while the other two went outside and reportedly cut the retaining cord for a Stihl Pressure Washer valued at more than $600.
The three left the business and got into a red or maroon Chevrolet pickup truck, drove to the front of the business and parked.
The second man and the woman then took the pressure washer and placed it into the bed of the truck then left northbound on Twin City Highway.
Nederland Police Chief Gary Porter said this type of crime has been around for a while.
“That’s a usual method thieves use, to bring in several people to distract the clerk to do the theft,” Porter said. “People (businesses) need to be cautious when large groups come in.”
If you or anyone you know has information about the theft at Fred Miller’s, please contact Det. C.W. Bradberry at 409-723-1521 or Nederland Police Department at 409-722-4965.
