Two local men have been arrested following a Thursday night assault and robbery in Port Arthur, authorities said.

Port Arthur Police Department officers responded to 203 9th Avenue at 9:15 p.m. and were told two male, Nederland residents forced entry into the residence and assaulted the homeowner, according to PAPD Sergeant Shannon Meaux.

Authorities said the assailants fled the scene before police arrived.

Two suspects were identified, and the PAPD Crime Response Team tracked them to a home in Nederland, according to Meaux.

With the assistance of the Nederland Police Department, two suspects were arrested for burglary of a habitation.

Police did not immediately release the names of the suspects.

Meaux noted the PAPD’s Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the break-in.
