A Port Arthur man was shot in the leg Monday morning but would not cooperate with police who responded to a call to help him.

In an issued statement at 8:52 a.m. Monday, police said the victim, 41, was shot inside the Prince Hall Apartment complex. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for treatment.

Police said they were also unable to locate any witnesses who would cooperate. Investigators were viewing video surveillance to determine what happened.

The victim was in stable condition and police were continuing their investigation.
