An employee at Port Arthur Chemicals has tested positive for coronavirus, Motiva confirmed Monday night.
The employee, whom Motiva did not identify, is in self-quarantine, per guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Motiva said in a statement it immediately performed workspace cleaning with CDC-approved sanitizing solutions upon notification of the potential for exposure.
Operations are continuing without interruption, Motiva adds.
“The health and safety of our employees, contractors and communities remains our priority,” Motiva wrote in the statement. “Motiva has already implemented a no-contact temperature screening procedure for its Port Arthur manufacturing sites that will continue indefinitely.
“Every employee and contractor is having his or her temperature checked upon arrival at any of our gates. Only those with temperatures of less than 100 degrees will be allowed to access the refinery or chemical plant.”
