NEDERLAND — Extra precautions were taken earlier this week when a Nederland woman, positive for COVID-19, fell and needed medical attention.

The call came in at 9:25 p.m. Wednesday in the 1800 block of Nederland Avenue at Carriage House Apartments, Nederland Police Chief Gary Porter said.

Nederland Fire Chief Terry Morton said firefighters and Acadian Ambulance were called to the scene and prior to their arrival were made aware the individual was a positive COVID-19 case.

“All required PPE was used at the scene by EMS and fire,” Morton said.

Morton isn’t aware of anyone being exposed to the virus.

The woman’s injures were minor and she did not need transport.

As of Friday afternoon the city of Nederland had four positive cases, Morton said.
