Port Arthur, Nederland report half-dozen new COVID-19 cases

A half-dozen new coronavirus cases were confirmed Thursday in Port Arthur and Nederland, health officials said.
The City of Port Arthur Health Department received confirmation of four additional Port Arthur residents who tested positive for coronavirus disease.
These individuals include three females between the age ranges of 15-20; 30-35; and 40-45.
The other individual is a male between the age range of 50-55.
This brings the total to 116 individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the City of Port Arthur.
The Port Arthur and Jefferson County Health Departments also received confirmation of two additional Nederland residents who tested positive for coronavirus.
One individual is a female between the age range of 45-50, and the other individual is a male between the age range of 55-60.
This brings the total to 23 individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the City of Nederland.
For confidentiality purposes, the health departments are not releasing any additional information to identify these individuals.
State health officials on Wednesday also reported 3,129 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, which was a single-day high. The state also reported 33 new deaths.
Texas began aggressively reopening its economy on May 1, and the business-friendly Republican governor has continued to relax restrictions despite the increase in infections.
