PORT NECHES — Four Port Neches-Groves High School students recently tested positive for COVID-19.
The students, who will remain anonymous, contracted the virus away from campus during a non-school sponsored event, school officials said.
Superintendent Mike Gonzales said the results do not impact the school district or high school campus.
Summer athletic programs are continuing as planned.
“We hate that this happened and we hope that our students feel better and get back to doing what they love,” Gonzales said. “We understand that this is scary for anyone and everyone that tests positive. We send our prayers to all that may be affected and pray for a speedy recovery.”
District officials are not making a final decision right now on prom. The event is scheduled for July 18 at 7:30 p.m.
