Nederland Chamber of Commerce celebrates business at annual banquet

PORT NECHES — – The Nederland Chamber of Commerce celebrated local business at its annual banquet at The Pompano Club in Port Neches this week.

Spirits were high as Emmett Hollier began the night by cracking jokes and introducing the speakers. The attendees included a plethora of big names from Nederland and around Texas.

The outgoing chairman Steve Lyle gave the year in review where the chamber welcomed 35 new members, hosted 13 ribbon cuttings and grand openings, two blood drives, awarded 10 teacher of the month awards and 12 business of the month awards.

The incoming chairman, Constable Bobby Adams, introduced the new 2025 Officers:

  • Chairman – Constable Bobby Adams
  • Chair-Elect – Jared Byrd, Five Point Credit Union
  • Secretary/Treasurer – Brenda Horton, McNeill Insurance
  • Vice Chair – Jessica Pitts, DuGood Federal Credit Union
  • Recorder – Dee Lane, Vector Security
  • Immediate past chair – Steve Lyle -Texas Coffee Company

Diana LaBorde presented Nederland Small Business of the Year to Janna Bartz of The Golden Cup. The coffee shop opened in February 2020 and was quickly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic along with Hurricane Laura and Winter Storm Uri in the following years. In spite of these setbacks, The Golden Cup continued to strive forward and win multiple awards.

“The Golden Cup started off as a dream and I didn’t think that I would actually be able to make that dream into a reality until many years from now,” said Bartz. “God presented opportunities in front of me and I jumped. And here we are, I am very thankful for the community that has helped me make The Golden Cup.”

Nutrition & Services for Seniors won Service Organization of the Year. In 2024 Nutrition & Services for Seniors served over 430,000 meals to seniors in the community.
