Hanson, owner of Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, dies

Charles V. “Junior” Hanson III, who began working at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home as a teen and later became owner, has died.
Hanson, 80, died Aug. 2.
Hanson attended Trinity Lutheran elementary school and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. He then left for Korea where he served as a member of the armed forces during the Korean conflict.
After returning home, his next destination was Waco where he earned his BBA degree at Baylor University.
While growing up one of his first jobs, at the age of 14, was at Clayton Thompson doing odd jobs, helping out and as an ambulance attendant, according to obituary information.
It was his life’s dream to own the funeral home and that became reality in 1964.
Visitation for Charles V. “Junior” Hanson III will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, 5200 39th St., Groves. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
