Mission man killed in Texas 73 wreck
A Port Arthur man is dead following a two-vehicle wreck that occurred around 6 a.m. Friday on Texas 73.
According to the investigating trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety, a Honda was attempting to merge onto Texas 73 when the vehicle was struck from behind by a Toyota Tundra pickup truck.

The driver of the Honda, Freddy Araica, of Port Arthur and his front passenger, Jorge Araica, of Port Arthur, were both treated for minor injuries and have been released from the hospital. Freddy and Jorge are cousins.
The driver of the Toyota, Samuel Gutierrez, of Port Arthur is listed in good condition at Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.
Initial law enforcement reports stated that a vehicle rolled over, but evidence at the crash scene proves that not to be the case, according to a press release from DPS.
The merging lane and the outside lane on Highway 73 were closed for approximately two hours while crews worked to clear crash debris. The crash remains under investigation.
