Titans carry 82-60 overall record into 2015

It is crazy to think the Port Arthur Memorial Titans have only won 10 or more games once in school history.
Memorial High School was opened in 2002 when Thomas Jefferson High School, Lincoln High School and Stephen F. Austin High School combined to form the new facility.
The Titans are 82-60 overall as a team with a 9-9 playoff record.
Dean Colbert was the first coach in school history and led the Titans for the first four years. Colbert finished with a 22-18 record.
It was during Colbert’s years the Titans had its first star player really break into the national seen.
Jamaal Charles, who now plays for the Kansas City Chiefs, rushed for 2,015 yards in 2003 as a junior and 2,054 yards as a senior in 2004. His combined 4,069 rushing yards are a Port Arthur schoolboy record. He scored 47 career touchdowns.
Memorial went 9-4 in 2003 and lost 34-14 in the regional round to Katy.
Ronnie Thompson took over the program in 2006 and the team went 6-5.
The Titans in 2006 had quarterback Davon Lewis throw for 2,133 yards to become the first Titans signal caller to break the 2,000 yard mark.
After two losing seasons, Kenny Harrison was named head coach in 2009 and still has the job.
Thompson went 13-17 in his three seasons on campus while Harrison’s record entering 2015 sits at 47-25.
The Titans best record in school history came under Harrison in 2011 as Memorial went 13-2 and reached the state semifinals.
Memorial’s rise up the ranks was in large part due to the success of a new star on campus, quarterback Terrence Singleton.
Singleton threw for 2,117 yards and rushed for 743 yards with a combined 36 touchdowns in 2010 as the Titans went 9-4 with a 34-10 loss to Houston Memorial in the regionals.
Singleton and the Titans were just getting going as Memorial were one win away in 2011 from the state finals.
Cibolo Steele ended Memorial’s dreams with a 51-31 victory over the Titans in the state semifinals.
Singleton was a machine in 2011. He threw for a school-record 2,579 yards with 29 touchdowns to go with 1,615 yards and 22 scores. Nate Holmes pitched in for 1,325 yards on the ground in 2011.
The Titans went 8-3 the following year and 8-4 in 2013.
Memorial this season is looking to get back into the playoffs after a 3-7 record in 2014 kept the Titans out of the postseason.
Over the last two seasons the Titans have had the pleasure of having two highly recruited running backs on the roster.
Corey Dauphine graduated last year and now is a member of the Texas Tech Red Raiders while this year’s star rusher is Kameron Martin. Martin is committed to Baylor University and has a shot at breaking Charles’ school rushing record.
