Joyce Gray

NEDERLAND – Joyce Gray, 74, of Nederland, died Thursday, July 13, 2006 at her residence, following a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, July 17, 2006 at Broussard’s in Nederland with Don Cain officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 – 8 PM on Sunday, July 16, 2006 at the mortuary. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

Joyce has lived in the area for the past 58 years and loved to travel and read, but her true joy in life was her grandchildren.

Mrs. Gray is survived by her husband Rheudolph Gray of Nederland, two daughters; Lana Licatino and husband Harold and Phyllis Willis and husband Mark; one son Jeffery Gray all of Nederland. Also six grandchildren; Dwight Smith, Amie Springer, Neil and Janie Williamson; Douglas and Thomas Gray. Also included are six Great Grandchildren and three brothers; Billy, Phillip and Dewey Brown, and sister, Sharon Grantham.



Sara Rogers Davis

PORT ARTHUR – Sara Rogers Davis of Port Arthur, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2006. She was born on June 2, 1919 to Minnie and Joseph Rogers. Sara is survived by her children, Barry and Rita Davis of Groves, Laurie Horowitz of Houston, and Mike and Lois Davis of Sugarland; her brother, Victor J. Rogers of Beaumont; her grandchildren, Jacquelyn Davis of Washington, D.C., Brad and Angela Davis of Austin, and David Cohen of Houston; three great grandchildren, Jaxou, Jagger and Jordan; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; Irving Davis, her daughter; Janice Davis Gordon, and her siblings; Anne Vaxler, Ben J. Rogers, Nate J. Rogers, and Sol J. Rogers.

Sara was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to the Beaumont area with her family in 1939. She married Irving Davis on December 24, 1940 and the family moved to Port Arthur in 1953. Sara devoted her life to her children, husband, and family. She was a member of Temple Rodef Shalom in Port Arthur and later Temple Emanuel in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Temple Emanuel, 1120 Broadway Street in Beaumont, Texas, with graveside service to follow at the Kol Isarel section of Magnolia Cemetery. Rabbi Barbara Metzinger will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Victor J. Rogers, 5065 Little Wood in Beaumont, immediately following the graveside services. A visitation was held Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions may send them to the Janice Davis Gordon Memorial Fund for Cancer Prevention at M.D. Anderson Hospital, the Julie Rogers Gift of Life Program in Beaumont, Texas or Temple Emanuel in Beaumont, Texas.
