The Orange Community Players will hold auditions for the Southeast Texas premiere of “Meet Me in St. Louis,” the stage musical based on the classic movie musical starring Judy Garland, from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, and 6-9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, in the Tow Inn at the First United Methodist Church in Orange, located on the second floor of the Educational Building.
The musical will be directed by Susan Tiger, and will be presented April 19-21 and April 26-28. Barbara Dardeau is music director, and choreographer is Mandy Dowden, assisted by Heather King. Females aged 5-45 and males aged 16-75 are needed to fill the 30-member cast.
All interested in auditioning should prepare one musical solo, and provide their own pre-recorded accompaniment. Young girls interested in the role of “Tootie,” made famous by the then 5-year old, precocious singer/actor/dancer, Margaret O’Brien, should contact Susan Tiger at (409) 886-3414 as soon as possible for a private audition.
“Meet Me in St. Louis tells the story of a happy family’s life anticipating the wonders of the 1904 World Fair. The musical is brimming with such familiar musical tunes as “The Trolley Song,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “The Boy Next Door,” and of course, the title song, “Meet Me in St. Louis.” Most rehearsals will be held from 7-9 p.m. Monday through Friday, with the exception of a few Saturday and Sunday afternoon rehearsals.
