Evelyn Ruth Venghaus, 81, of Port Arthur passed away on Monday, March 21, 2011 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. She was born September 17, 1929 to Esther Domaschk Walther and Oswald Walther in Port Arthur, Texas. She was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in 1947. Evelyn retired as a upervisor/bookkeeper after 20 years in the banking industry, she worked at Merchants Bank, Sabine Bank and Bank One. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Trinity Lutheran and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Terrell Elementary School PTA and Lifetime Member of PTA.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 25, 2011 from 5 PM to 8 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 2 PM Saturday, March 26, 2011 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Rev. Richard Turner, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Clayton Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Freemond and Winston Walther.
She is survived by her loving husband, Erwin L. Venghaus of Port Arthur, daughter, Janet Mitchell and husband Ralph of Port Arthur, son, Leonard F. Venghaus and wife Jackie of Marble Falls, Texas along with three grandchildren, Cameron Venghaus, Jeremy Mitchell and Sarah Mitchell/Morris with one great grandson soon to be, James Guy Morris as well as her brother, Glen Walther of Houston, Texas, several nieces and nephews.
