Sis. Willow Mae Simon Williams

Sis. Willow Mae Williams was born to Mr. Willie Simon, Sr. and Mrs. Rebecca Briggs Simon on June 18, 1929 in Beaumont, Texas. She departed this life on Sunday, July 5, 2015.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late Reverend Mell Williams, Jr. on July 27, 1946.  To this union six children were born.
Willow Mae was a lifelong native of Beaumont where she attended the Beaumont Public Schools and finished from Hebert High School.  She retired from Schlesinger’s Home Health Agency.
Sis. Williams was an active member of the New Light Missionary Baptist Church of Port Arthur where she served in many capacities. She was also a member of the General Bowen District Association Ministers’ Wives Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Reverend Mell Williams, Jr.; her parents, Willie & Rebecca Simon; four siblings, Willie Simon, Jr., Walter Rufus “Bootsie” Simon, Jerline Bradley, and Ruby Davis of Beaumont.
She will forever be remembered by her six children: Mell Williams, III (Wanda), Larry Williams, Willow Williams Bernard, Shirley Wells (Joseph), Mona Hayes (Donald) and Randy Williams (Glynis); Fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.  One sister, Mrs. Joyce Booker (Eddie) of Beaumont, three sisters-in-law;  Mrs. Irma Simon of Beaumont, Mrs. Leona Williams (Clarence) of Renton, Washington and Mrs. Bessie Henderson of Pacifica, California; and Brother-in-law, Mr. Clyde Bradley of Beaumont and many nieces, nephews, cousins & other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015 at New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 948 E. 5th Street, Port Arthur, TX with a viewing from 9 a.m. until service time.  Entombment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont, TX under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
