NEDERLAND — Nederland Police have cracked a case in which at least 25 cars were ‘egged’ by a group of teens overnight Tuesday.
Assistant Police Chief Gary Porter said they spoke two of the teens and believe there are three to four total suspects.
So far there are 25 cars egged at random houses and the suspects are all high school students between the ages of 15 and 17.
“We started getting calls about it last night (Tuesday), somebody saw them doing it,” Porter said, adding that one vehicle was stopped by police but not all of the suspects were in that particular vehicle.
The yolky crime can range from Class C misdemeanor if the incident is minor to a felony if damage is done to the vehicles.
“This is the first real summertime shenanigans,” he said, adding that police did receive calls of kids on the roof of one of the middle schools about two weeks ago.
Earlier this month Groves Police dealt with two juveniles who broke into Groves Middle School, set off several fire extinguishers and damaged a door to a coaches office.
