Yvonne George Pampolina

Yvonne George Pampolina, 98, of Port Arthur passed away Monday, July 27, 2015.  She was born December 30, 1916 in Beirut, Lebanon and immigrated to the United States as a small child with her parents, Asseph and Bertha George. Yvonne was the eldest of 9 children. Yvonne was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur until she moved into Silsbee Oaks Nursing Home in 2008. When Yvonne lived in Port Arthur, she attended St. Michaels Greek Orthodox Church in Beaumont.  She supported her two sons, Walter and Pete Pampolina as a waitress at the Sabine Hotel Cafe in Port Arthur for many years.  She was a loving mother and grandmother and was loved by all the nursing home staff.  She had the nickname of “Boomerang” at Silsbee Oaks because every time her body tried to go down, she would always bounce back.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Walter and Pete Pampolina; and siblings, Bertha George Thomas, Morris Thomas, Eddie George, Margaret George, and Latief (Tuffy) George.  She is survived by sisters, Loretta George Rastelli, Mary George DeRuiter, and Norma Lee George Fountain; grandchildren, Charlene Pampolina Bourque, Ricci Pampolina, Kathy Pampolina Guilbeaux, Dino Pampolina, and Tanya Pampolina Woods; great-grandchildren, Natalie Pampolina, Brannon Bourque, Christopher Pampolina, Dustin Guilbeaux, and Kalynn Bourque Hanna, Lauren, Lindsey, Logan Woods; and great-great grandchildren, Layla Sonnier, Noah Delcombre, Case Pampolina, and Logan Joy Hanna.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with a service to begin at 11:00 a.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
