Port Arthur schools will not have class Tuesday while emergency crews continue efforts to repair a broken 32-inch water main that left much of the city without water and under a boil water notice.
The school opened Monday while community businesses donated bottled water for the student’s to drink.
Port Arthur ISD Superintendent Mark Porterie said while students had an ample water supply, the problem of flushing toilets remained a problem.
Most of the school’s campuses are included in the affected area, prompting the district to close all schools tomorrow, Porterie.
While students and staff will get a day off, custodians will be required to report to work.
School is expected to reopen on Wednesday, Nov. 11.
