Davis just missed a double-double in the Cards’ win over Delaware State, scoring a season-high 18 points and dishing out nine assists. He shot .400 percent from the field in the two games while averaging 13.5 points and 6.0 assists. Davis also averaged 2.5 steals during the two games, and recorded a block.

Davis has scored in double-figures in two of the team’s three games, while guiding the Cardinals to a 2-1 start on the season. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native is currently second in the Southland averaging 5.0 assists per game.

The Cardinals return to action Wednesday when they travel to Houston to take on Rice. The game against the Owls is slated to tip off at 7 p.m. from Tudor Fieldhouse. Big Red trails the all-time series to Rice, but the Cardinals have won five of the past six meetings in the series. The Cardinals won a thrilling 79-72 game against Rice last season in Beaumont.

The Owls enter Wednesday’s contest looking for their first win of the season. Rice is 0-4 after dropping contests at California and San Francisco, and at home against Oregon State and Fresno State.
