Martha Haynes Moss entered into the Kingdom of Heaven December 4, 2015. She passed away, surrounded by her loving family, at the home of her daughter, Mary Katherine, in Harlingen, TX where she had been living the last two years after the death of her husband, “Bob”.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Larry Young and Robert “Bob” Moss, her parents, Ralph and Lucille Haynes, sister Betty Haynes Sullivan and niece Sarah Elaine Nowak and is survived by two daughters, Mary Katherine Young Slaydon (husband Richard) and Melinda Kay Young Hoyt, three step children, Terrance Moss (wife Pam), Greg Moss (wife Yoshi) and Kathie O’Neal (husband Keith), seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren, brother Ralph Haynes, Jr., sister Cynthia Haynes Steffey and many nieces and nephews.
For over thirty years Martha was a dedicated employee of Bridge City ISD as a secretary at the high school where she touched so many lives and was highly valued by administrators and dearly loved by faculty and students.
Martha and “Bob” Moss were active members and former officers of the “Swinging Squares” square dance club for many years. They enjoyed doing performances with the group and traveled across Texas to conventions and jamborees. They were a handsome couple on the dance floor and very good dancers!
All those who knew and loved Martha were blessed with her big smile, beautiful big “dancing” brown eyes, animated and mischievous sense of humor, youthful fun loving spirit and genuine kindness. Her family and friends admired and were inspired by her positive, courageous spirit as she battled cancer for many years.
A memorial service will be held Saturday December 19, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Methodist Temple (Hwy. 73), Port Arthur, Texas. All are welcome to a visitation with family immediately preceding the service at 9:00 AM. Burial of cremains for Martha and “Bob” will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery.
