Rosa Mae Lavergne Simon, 87, of Groves, Texas passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at her daughter’s home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
She was born on December 18, 1928 to Angeline Falcon Lavergne and Aristile Lavergne in Rayne, Louisiana. Rosa was a homemaker and a resident of Groves for over 68 years.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Groves. Rosa enjoyed gardening, drinking her coffee and cigarettes, she had a colorful language and was known for making her Hot Fudge Cake.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, George and one grand dog, Ally.
She is survived by her daughters, Gwen and husband, Claude Tibbetts of Baton Rouge, Josie and husband, Gary Mayo of Groves, her sons, Daniel and wife, Lisa Simon of Nederland, Glenn “Bubba” and wife, Lisa of Baton Rouge, 11 grandchildren, Desi, Nat, Craig, Chris, Amy, Amanda, Jessica, David, Jr. Sarah, Derek and Layla, 19 great grandchildren, Tadd, Chase, Paige, Savannah, Clacey, Cody, Collin, Talia, Billy, Joshua, Scot, Haley, Landen, Tyler, Hayden, Ali, Jon, Tristan and Taryn, her two loving dogs, Coco and Vinny.
Visitation will be on Monday, February 8, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:30 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. J. C. Coon, serving as celebrant. Entombment will follow at the Chapel of Rest Mausoleum in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
