Earl Joseph Lewis, 80 years old, of Port Arthur, Texas died on Monday, February 15, 2016 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Loreauville, Louisiana and moved at an early age to New Iberia, Louisiana. He was a resident of Port Arthur, Texas for over 55 years.
At 17 years of age, Earl decided to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Air Force. After leaving the Service, he was employed at Texas US Chemical (Ameripol Synpol, Inc.) with more than 25 years of service. He was a business man and entrepreneur.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Maxzille Louis and Winnie Dominque Louis of New Iberia, LA and 5 brothers – Wilber Louis, Wilker Louis, Paul Lewis, Sr., John “J.E.” Lewis, James “Renny” Lewis, and Peter “Nookie” Lewis.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 42 years, Jessie Allison Lewis and one sister, Sylvia Lewis James of Knoxville, Tennessee. He leaves to celebrate his life a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Sacred Heart-St. Mary Parish Church with visitation from 8 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
