Joel “Snake” Kenneth Girolamo

Joel “Snake” Kenneth Girolamo, 82, of Groves passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Community Retirement Home of Port Arthur.
Joel was born on March 29, 1933 in Port Arthur to late parents Jennie (Ienna) and Nicholas D. Girolamo. He was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur and Groves area and was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Joel served his country in the US Army. He worked as an electrician at Texaco for many years and did contractor work in the area. Joel enjoyed going crabbing and visiting his friends at local coffee shops. He was a loving person who will be missed dearly.
He was preceded by his parents; two brothers and two sisters.
Joel is survived by his sister, Marie Girolamo of Groves, niece, Arlene Wills and husband, Tommy of Nederland; nephew, Sam Girolamo and wife, Debbie of Groves; great nieces, Serena Hedrick and husband, James, Jennie Wills and boyfriend, Dylan Tompkins; great nephew, Thomas Wills and fiancé, Nicole Guidry; great-great nephew, Samuel Hedrick.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 2 pm at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with a gathering of family and friends from 12 pm until service time at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. JC Coon. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Honoring Joel as pallbearers will be Tommy Wills, Thomas Wills, James Hedrick and Dylan Tompkins.
