Holmes beats Branick in Judgeship race

Beaumont attorney Terrence L. Holmes locked down his party’s nomination for Jefferson County Court-at-law No. 2 judge by soundly defeating challenger Jesse Branick.
Holmes, with 106 of the 109 voting precincts counted at press time, won the Democratic race. Holmes received 13,687 votes, or 68 percent compared to Branick’s 6,157 or 31 percent.
Of the county’s 144,833 registered voters, 13,142 voted in the race.
Holmes will face Republican Luke Nichols, who ran unopposed, in the November general election.
